Improvements to Dragline Excavator (MM 1953)

Has anyone come up with any improvements to this medium sized model. I believe the bucket hoist/drag movement gearbox is similar to SML 19 & SML 30. Any binding of the gears in this type of gearbox can be solved by use of a 25T pinion instead of a 19T. Other suggestions include the roller bearing/tub assembly and possible beefing up of the walking shoe axle assembly.

Dragline Excavator(MM 1953)

Sorry, but I mentioned that any binding problems with the gearbox was solved by using a 25T pinion. I meant to have said that this problem was solved by using a 50T gears instead of the 57T gears, the pinions are not replaced. This is mentioned in the Meccanomens Journal as a solution to this problem in SML30.

Further Improvements to Dragline (MM 1953)

Following the use of 50 teeth gears in the gearbox of this medium sized model, the rocking double armed cranks on which the pinions are fitted could be replaced with say a 57t spur gear, which in turn could be worm driven by a servo motor (crane, MO outfit, or present meccano outfit) as a further suggestion.
