a level project

please i need help i am doing project on the effect of short circuiting on the rate of recovery of a dry cell. I was hoping you would be able to help me with the theory behind short-circuiting and the theory behind recovery of dry cells. Would you be able to help me on the best set up of the circuit to get the best results? I have recently visited your web page and that is where I got the idea of doing the experiment
