Relays...I'm a beginner!

Hi, I'm making an installation and i need to turn a main current on and off using very low voltage sensors (only 3-6 volts) can i use a relay to do this? I just need to make sure it is safe etc, is there any good resources to help me? Any help would be amazing as i;m struggling quite badly!

Thanks Again

Pete

Relays....I'm a beginner!

These days there are not many relays that can directly control motors from the low voltage sensors you are using. In this case I would look at using more than one relay in one after another fashion...e.g. sensitive signal/reed relay operating a heavier duty (continential)relay for the control of motors.
