Protection Diode

Could someone please recommend protection diode specs to be used with 24VDC, 10A relay ? and also with 240vAC, 10A relay ?

Protection Diode

The protection diode for the 1st relay could be a 1N4002 100v 1A rectifier diode. For the second relay operating on the AC mains I would use a varistor transient suppressor (MOV) rated at 275v. This component does look like a large or high voltage ceramic capacitor so be careful.
