Pulse Width Modulator Motor Hum

I have a PWM controlling a trolling motor for my boat. It works well but the problem is that the motor has a constant HUM when the PWM is reducing the speed. Voltage = 12 VDC Current 0 to 10 Amps Frequency of output = 100 HZ
Can the HUM be eliminated?

Hum

You would probably have to increase the frequency. Most commercial units for 1hp motors use around 30kHz, but then this can increase the impedence of the motor. The best frequency will depend on the motor.
