.1uf capacitor.

I wish to know the importance of .1uf capacitors at the input and output of regulator IC7805.Please help me.

Im no expert, just trying to figure things out.
However for lack of any other responses, I believe what the cap does is helps to smooth out the voltage from some high's and lows. Like a shock absorber I suppose. Also I have seen larger caps on the incoming power which can act as a big "spring" keeping preasure on the regulator. Anyone who can prove me wrong feel free. It would not take much. But I believe Im close to the answer.

why the 0.1 ?

The 0.1 uF takes out high frequency bursts of noise in the supply. The 100uF takes out the lower frequency noise.
