4V Bulb and 6V Rechargeable battery

Hi,
I have been trying to use a 4V bulb with a 6V
battery when there is power outage. So far I"ve
tried to connect resistors in parallel and a
diode in series without success.I like using
it is quiter than a 6V bulb but it burns out
soon,Kindly help me out.

You might want to read my comments about using a 7805 as a current regulator.

4V Bulb on 6V battery

By quieter do you mean that the 4V bulb draws less current than the 6V bulb or has less intensity. By the use of a current regulator which will drop any excess voltage the regulator will also protect the bulb when it is first switched on by limiting the current flow as bulb filament have lower resistance when cold.
