4V Bulb and 6V Rechargeable battery

Hi,
I have been trying to use a 4V bulb with a 6V
battery when there is power outage.So far I"ve
tried to connect resistors in parallel and a
diode in series without success.I like using
it is quiter than a 6V bulb but it burns out
soon,Kindly help me out.
