Size of smoothing Capacitor

i have to get a voltage ripple of just 500mV with a current of 1.1A from a recified 50 hz mains supply.
I have worked it out to be 22000uF but thi seems very big,i was wondering if you could confirm whether this is worked out correctly or not.
