Transducers and their drivers

A transducer is a device which converts a signal (or energy) from one form to another. Input transducers are sensors which convert TO electrical signals, eg LDR, thermistor, microphone. Output transducers convert FROM electrical signals, eg LED, lamp, motor, loudspeaker. Some output transducers require a relatively large current which most ICs (chips) cannot provide from their outputs. In this case a transducer driver is needed; it could be transistor, a darlington pair (two transistors working together), a buffer IC, or a power amplifier IC (for a loudspeaker).
