Opto Sensors (Photo Reflector)

Hi,
I've been looking thru Gilbert Ghyselbrecht's two models with a view to using the Maplin's part JA26D (photo reflector). However, (being new to the whole electronics game)I'm not sure which of the sensors connections goes to which connection in the circuit! In Gilbert's Cliff Lift article he shows a wiring dia of the switch (figure 4), but not which of the actual sensor connections is which (i.e. which is anode, which is cathode etc). Would anybody be able to help to identify these please?
