Transformer Rectifier?

I have pinball game from 1948 with the original transformer. It runs on 120V and puts out 6 and 12V DC. Attached to the transformer is a device that I believe is the rectifier, but have never seen before. It has a central core about 3/4"dia x 4" long, with 4 discs mounted on it and they are parallel to and in line with each. The discs are about 4"dia. The only connection between this device and the transformer besides electrical wires is a metal mounting bracket. Is this the rectifier? Is this typical of rectifiers of this age?

rectifier

That is called a selenium rectifier and was first solid state type of device to replace a tube rectifier.
